Abstract
A kutatás egy 1989-es, a MTA Szociológiai Intézetében Losonczi Ágnes által kezdeményezett kutatás panel jellegű folytatása. A húsz évvel ezelőtti vizsgálatot első gyermeküket váró szülők körében végezték a budapesti agglomeráció déli övezetében. A kutatás első hullámában 301, terhessége utolsó trimeszterében lévő kismamát kérdeztek meg sztenderdizált kérdőívvel. A második hullámban, a szülés után 3-13 hónappal ismét felkeresték a családokat, ekkor 193 kérdőív készült (mindkét szülő megkérdezésével), továbbá 50 mélyinterjú felvétele történt, anyákkal. Jelen kutatásban, 2012-ben 117 család tagjait (anyát, apát, nagykorú gyereket) sikerült utolérni és megkérdezni (személyenként kétféle kérdőívvel), és a kutatók az ő válaszaik mentén igyekeztek olyan összefüggéseket feltárni és megmutatni, amelyek magyarázatot adnak az életfordulók hátterében álló személyes döntésekre és társadalmi tényezőkre. Ahogy a magyar nők többsége, úgy a kutatásban szereplő anyák is, terveik szerint átlagosan két gyermeket szerettek volna. Az adatokat elemezve nyilvánvalóan látszik, hogy a második illetve a harmadik és további gyerekek megszületése több tényezőtől függ: a társas támogatás, a párkapcsolat minősége, a gazdasági helyzet, a krízishelyzetek és megoldási stratégiák milyensége, mind ilyen meghatározó tényezők. A kutatók érdeklődésének középpontjában nem csak azon családok jellemzőinek bemutatása állt, akik vagy alulteljesítették, vagy többszörösen megvalósították eredeti, a vállalt gyerekek számára vonatkozó terveiket, hanem hogy tetten érjék az eltérő gyermekvállalási hajlandóságok hátterében húzódó tényezőket.
In 1989 the Sociological Institute initiated a longitudinal panel study among parents expecting their first child in 8 settlements of the southern region of the Budapest agglomeration in Hungary. In the first phase of the study 301 women in the last trimester of their pregnancy were asked to fill out standardized questionnaires. In the second phase, the families were revisited 3-13 months after giving birth. Then altogether 193 families (both mothers and fathers) filled the questionnaires plus 50 in-depth mother interviews were made. In 2012 members from 117 families (mother, father and the grown-up child) were interviewed and through their different perspectives the researchers tried to reveal and explain the socio-demographic and personal factors behind the life course decisions. Like the majority of Hungarian women, mothers participating in the first wave of the research began their adult life with the intention of having a family with two children on average. Analyzing the data of the birth-panel study it is evident that the decision on the birth of the second and further children depends on several factors such as social support, quality of personal relationships, financial situation, crises and coping strategies. In the focus of the researchers’ interest is not only to describe the characteristics of those families who initially had the same intentions but eventually either had only one or more than two children, but to explain the influencing factors behind the different childbearing behaviours.
