Abstract

Research materials stored in Hungarian social science data archives are not sufficiently integrated into the international research data ecosystem, resulting in very low visibility outside Hungary, despite the country being a full member of the Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA). To address this issue, a project was launched in 2024 at the Research Documentation Centre of the Centre for Social Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). This paper presents the background to the project, its institutional context and antecedents, the initial situation, and its objectives. It also outlines the development and implementation plans, the steps taken, and the results achieved. The article further discusses the difficulties and challenges encountered, as well as the responses to these challenges and possible solutions. The project underlying this article was carried out under grant agreement No. NKFIH 2021-4.1.2-NEMZ_KI-2024-00048 issued by the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office.
